FINALLY!!!
It's done...
I couldn't decide what color to paint the walls so for now I left them...The room has so much color in it now I left them off white...
Here is what I started with....
This was nothing exciting...we just moved into our new home and my daughter has been at camp since June and she turned sweet "16" on July 20...She will be home in a week and I wanted to surprise her with a room make-over...
Here are some things I've done...Pained the bed and dresser black and re-did some artwork in her room...
I got rid of all the little girl things in her room but kept some of the things that do have meaning for her...I had this three tier oak shelf sitting in the garage and sent the hubby out to spray paint it black...and waa laa a nice modern shelf for her memories...
She has a couple white shelves in her room and I was going to paint them as well but I thought it would be too much black so I left them white...(would love to hear ideas about them)...
This corner one I left in the corner and spray painted her cork/dry erase board...and left this are as her message area...
I bought some fun colored accessories for her room to brighten it up...and rearranged some of the cute things she already had...
I also wanted to keep her room inspirational and full of quotes...I think it's important for them to see words of encouragement when the wake up and before they go to sleep...
Are you ready for the big room reveal????
I know you are....(ok I won't make you wait)
Taa Daa...
(sorry the pics are not real clear...I REALLY need to learn how to use my darn camera)
I think she is going to just love it... Much Much Much better then the before...
Don't you think???
Now on to the office....
TELL ME ABOUT A ROOM YOU MADE OVER???
Love, love love the room!! Did I mention I love it!! She will flip! You'll have to let us know her reaction.
ReplyDeleteIt does look so much more grown-up. The black looks awesome. The pillows and all the encouraging words on the walls are so awesome. I
think that's my fav. part! :)
Fantastic job!
LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT! Great reveal and I know she is just going to be super excited when she sees it as well ;) I think the white shelves are fine...everything looks really balanced and the accessories really pop on both the white and the black furniture pieces. The inspirational words are so hip and she'll be very happy to be in her room.
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic! I'm sure your daughter will be very pleased.
ReplyDeleteNew follower! Looking forward to reading more :)
ReplyDeleteIncredible transformation! I am sure she much happier in there now :) Lovely spaces make for a happy spirit!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone....She will be home on the 15th and I can't wait...I haven't seen her since the middle of May...We are looking forward to her seeing her new room :-)
ReplyDeleteYour teen's room turned out beautiful!! I love the painted dresser! I just redecorated a girly guest room in my house - it's here if you want to take a look. http://pattiwest.blogspot.com/2011/07/budget-bedroom-make-over.html
ReplyDeleteMy next project is to convert a dresser into a dining room server, and I plan to paint it black. Hope it turns out as nice as your painted furniture! :)
Saw your link on Addicted 2 Decorating. I love what you did with the pillows. What a fun room to return home to!!!
