I HEART faces <3...



I know I said I wasn't going to do challenges but I just couldn't help myself..."I heart faces" is having a photo challenge and it's "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes"...A photo challenge with "NO" faces..so what the heck...Let's do this!!!

This is one of my favorite photos and I thought it would be great for the photo challenge...

Add a Little Color...

As I venture on an organizational journey...I'm not going to do a challenge because I'm going to make this adventurous like everything I do...I have to much going on to commit to any daily challenges that would involve any kind of organizing...

I bought a cute little cabinet that my TV in my office sits on and I needed something to brighten up the darkness...I try to stick to the Green and Dark Brown theme in the office but sometimes you need to add a little color....So let's go add some CRAZY color...

Here's the spot we are going to brighten up...

Yep...It's a pretty boring empty hole...I can't really put anything heavy there because it will sit on the cable box...So now I'm thinking something light...with some room (so it doesn't look crowded) and colorful...hmmm let me think!!! Oh wait!! I have a 40% off coupon to Michael's of all places...~smiling all the way to the store~...Now let's think of some colors...

Well if I want colorful I have to think flowers... and with flowers you need a vase...and let's add some stones to the bottom of the vase to give it that something extra...Seeing how I can go overboard in Michael's I'm only going to get what I came for and venture no were else in the store...Wish me luck!!!

Ok....this is what I got....I still got Green flowers and added some Purple for that added color....a small round vase and some glass stones....what a deal...everything was on sale plus my coupon...I'm happy with $12.50...I was smiling the whole way home...and, I stayed within my budget...even better yet :)

Let's get decorating...the first thing I need to do is cut the stems of the flowers so they fit in the vase...If you are going to attempt this...GET SOME WIRE CUTTERS!!!! I was too lazy to walk to the basement to get them and there goes my good titanium scissors....So much for saving money at Michael's ~Sad Face~

Dang!! Don't you hate when that happens...Let's move on...I'll have to find some wire cutters but let's get them stones in that vase...It might lower my level of irritability...Lesson here...don't be lazy!!!

The stones brighten up the glass vase nicely...it gives it just enough light and sparkle...good choice..Don't you think??? Ok!!! flowers are cut let's see how they look in the vase...



Love...Love...Love the colors!!!! Other then the minor mishap with the scissors I am happy with my choices I made for my "Crazy lil" flower arrangement...Now let's put it in the space I made it for...

Need a Break...

This lil lady is out of steam...it's been one heck of a week...I did try to keep up with my blog world but the last couple of days just kicked my butt...I take online classes and the brainiac I think I am decided to take 3 classes this semester...Oh!! and next semester ~Crying~....

WELLLLL...this week I had 5 Discussion Boards...13 Responses...2 Quizzes...10 Chapters to read...1 Case Study and 2 Papers due...all by tonight (Sunday evening)...But, I did it...mmm not really!! Close though...One more discussion board to go!!

But, for now I....

Crazy Books for Dummies...

As I'm walking through my favorite bookstore Barnes & Noble I begin to realize something...There are "Books for Dummies" everywhere and for everything...Really??? It made me laugh...My thoughts were are you kidding me...there is a book for the craziest things...

If you are looking for a dream career there is a book for you...or how about the "Facebook for Dummies"...I should have looked at it because I'm thinking facebook is not that hard to figure out...is there really a book for it...hmmmm...might have to check it out on my next visit to B&N...

It's good to know if I ever can't figure out even the simplest of things there is a book for me...LOL!!! OH wait I think I might own a "Drawing for Dummies" book...crack me up!!! So for anyone that doesn't feel they can do something....think again...head on to the bookstore and you will find a book that will teach you how to do anything...

Look at all the crazy Dummie books I saw..There is a book for all of us...hehe

TELL ME ABOUT A DUMMIES BOOK YOU MIGHT OWN...

All them Crazy Cords...

We all have them...cords everywhere...I am getting ready to re-organize my home and it is going to take some time...What am I getting myself into??? Anyways...I was sitting at my desk today trying to figure out where I'm going to begin...I didn't have to think too hard all I had to do was look in the corner by my desk and the question was answered...Look at all them cords...

Well now that I figured out where to begin...how the heck do I clean that up and with what??? Hmmm...as ideas are flying around in my head of different ways I could straighten out my cord situation...Ah Hah!!! Look what I found in my desk drawer...I knew they were here somewhere and one day I would use them...VELCRO STRAPS..

Off to the corner of the room I went...and I unplugged everything...and ran them all down the back of the desk and put one velcro strap around them all...On my desk I have my laptop, coffee warmer, my book external hard drive (for all these photos I take), mini photo scanner, phone and lamp...oh dear that seems like a lot...I have this handy USB unit and it has an opening on the side to run all the cords that run off my desk and down the back...so it was very easy to organize...and strapped another velcro strap onto the leg of my desk in the back to keep all the cords in place...clever huh?? :)

I placed the surge protector in the back of the desk and replugged everything back in...The only cord that was hard to hide was the cord to my printer because it sits on another shelf and the USB plugs into my USB unit so all I have to do is plug in one USB cord if I want to print or back up to my external hard drive...

Now to the cords on the other side of my desk...that way too long extension cord and cable cords...I completely removed the extension cord and put it on another wall and the cable cord I can't move anywhere...so to get it to lay flat against the wall I took one of my colorful PAPER CLIPS opened it up and hooked it over the cable cord and used my letter opener and pushed the other end of the paper clip under the floor trim...and there you have it...

All the cords in the office are all nice and neat...It's always good to accomplish something you set out to do...Looks so much better...doesn't it???

Proud of a Friend...

Sometimes we just don’t tell our friends enough how proud we are of them and the accomplishments that they worked so hard to achieve…I am telling my friend “Roberta” how proud I am of her….

She is not only a good friend, ex co-worker, organizer, cook, blogger….oh gosh she does it all!! Roberta, you are the woman…She has also been featured in a magazine “Cloth-Paper Scissors: STUDIOS”…for making the most out of the little space she lives in called the “LOVE SHACK”..  

She has been such an inspiration to me…After working for the same company and losing our jobs we both went through the same struggles…she turned a bad situation with lots of ups and downs and turned into something great….If you get a chance to read her blog please do ( http://con-tain-it.typepad.com/ )…it’s full of hope…ideas, adventures and good food!!! No matter what she is going through she still gives to those in need…OK enough mush talk…LOL

Roberta lives in what she calls the Love Shack and she says it’s, “Where art thrives in a small space”…Love that!! She went from a 4,000 sq ft house to a 700 sq ft home for her and her DH (Dear Hubby) as she calls him…I cannot begin to tell you how well she utilized the space she has…If you ever need any great ideas about anything she’s the one to call…I do!!!

It is exciting to see someone you know in a magazine you pick up at the bookstore and I’d like to share the “Love Shack” with you…

As we are finding our way around in the new town we live in I’m always looking for new things…There are a few malls in our area…the one that is closest to our house is so small if you blink you might miss something…Then there is the mall that is a huge 4 story mall that I just fell in love with…More on the mall another day…today it is about the adorable tea store I found…”Teavana”…

It smelled so good that I had to go in…and once inside... tea tasting….we are not talking teabags…It’s all fresh tea…and you learn something about tea…There are teas that contain jasmine blossoms that help relieve stress, sooth headaches and anxiety….Green tea contains antioxidants and helps boost the immune system…Black tea stimulates the heart and circulatory system…White tea reduces fine lines and wrinkles….someone stop me…I better get going on the white tea....LOL...I could go on and on what I learned and tasted…it was all so yummy…

Not only did I enjoy the tea but all the adorable tea cups…tea pots…teas sets…tea makers…there was so many great tea accessories that I just wanted to buy it all…I had to just walk out of the store…I’ve never had fresh tea before and it was so yummy…Let me tell you sleepytime tea has nothing on the fresh chamomile tea that has calming and relaxing effects…

Oh how I could go on and on about my new discovery…but I’m getting thirsty…off to make myself a cup of tea and unfortunately it’s a teabag for me ;-)

Trip to the Bookstore...

You would think that a trip to a bookstore would be relaxing...right??? NOT!!! If  you go with anyone other than my 15 yr old you might be able to relax...Her idea is to go in find the book she wants and let's go...this is not the first time she's done this...I actually have to tell her to sit down and read...I am not ready to go...YEP!! I give up..."Let's go"...

My intention was to bring my school book head off to Barnes & Noble and just have a chill day...sit and do some reading...of course this was after I went and flipped through some magazines...I ended up purchasing a couple....I just couldn't help myself...Ohhhh!!! than there is my infatuation with journals and there was so many to choose from...I wanted one of each...now of course I don't write in them...I barely have time to blog...but if I ever did find a use for them I would fill a bookshelf...any suggestions???

Well anyways after my magazine and journal shopping it was now time to grab some water and chill at Starbucks and do some homework...Whoever said sitting at Starbucks to read was a good idea obviously hasn't been to the Barnes & Noble in MD...it was louder than a school cafeteria...~Stressed me out~...All I wanted was an hour of peace and quiet...

Now to top it all off...here comes my sidekick (Caitlyn) she has her books and is ready to go...I obviously was not meant to have a peaceful afternoon...she's so impatient...and it was just way to noisey...checkout here we come!!!

I did manage to salvage a little quiet time...we stopped at a Starbucks that is near my home it wasn't as loud but I warmed up with a Caramel Macchiato and was able to read a little bit..Well I was probably people watching more than anything...Maybe I will try the library next time and I might do it alone...LOL!!

Like I never left...

My favorite times are the times spent with friends...it's the times of laughter that leaves a lasting memory...I made a quick visit to NC and one night of dinner with my closest friends made me feel like we've never been apart...

My son joined us and it just made it all that much more special!! It's been a long couple days and I have so much catching up to do...I just had to take the time out to share my memories of those in my life!!!

Best Surprise Visit...

I made a surprise visit to NC and my son had "NO" clue I was even coming...What goes into a surprise visit... It takes very good secret keepers ;) ...and my daughter is one of them (Well she tries to be...she just gets so excited) ...I had to come up with a good way to surprise my son...hmmmm!!!!

My daughter and son both live in NC but about 40 min away from each other so they don't see each other much so this was going to be good...She called him up and said she was going to be up his way and wanted to know if he wanted to go to LUNCH ;)...We all know Adam...of course he did...LOL

We met at Bob Evans...why is that because we like breakfast at anytime...yum yum!!! Well it's a good thing I showed up when I did because my lovely Danyelle finds it hard to keep surprises to herself...she was busting at the seams...She was smart though she had Adam sit with his back to the door...but her face was no longer keeping the surprise...she was grinning ear to ear...love her!!!

Let me tell you the look on my son's face was "PRICELESS"...I think it took him 10 seconds to realize I was standing in front of him...It's been almost 2 months since I have seen them and those 2 hrs were the best 2 hrs of my life...When I am with them my whole world lights up and it doesn't get any better than that!!!

I love surprises and for me to surprise someone is an even bigger surprise for me...

Brain on Vaca!!!

Just like it says "Brain on Vaca"...I am EXHAUSTED...this has been a rough week....between all the homework and an unexpected trip...and it's still not over yet!! I'm checking out early tonight...hopefully some sleep and I will be all refreshed tomorrow..well a girl can hope..can't she??? I may have run out of steam today but the engine will start back up in the morning...but for now!!!

Happy Birthday to Me...

Ok Ok...it's not really my birthday today...it was Sunday the 13th...but instead of wishing myself a "Happy Birthday" I wish Jake "Happy Birthday" instead...I love sharing my birthday with him!!!

I like to think this is my birthday month...now if I could only get a gift everyday...hehe...Hey!! a girl can ask can't she???...it is a short month...LOL...It's my first birthday in Maryland and my hubby tried to make it nice since I didn't have friends or family to celebrate with...I love a good party!!!

We had a nice day together...just hung out and chilled than went out to dinner...We try to go out to eat at a new place all the time until we know the area...but, I think I found my new favorite restaurant...Bellissimo Seafood Bar & Grill...one word "YUM"!!!

I had a couple glasses of Mascato and one was free...better yet...Hubby had a couple beers...after that we were ready for bed...we are such lightweights...hehe...They brought us out a huge bowl of ceasar salad and loaf of fresh bread with garlic butter...delish...Chris had steak and I had my favorite pasta...Let me not forget the AWESOME waitress we had...she was such a delight and made our dinner even better than it already was...The best part was dessert...TERAMISU...OH MY GOSH was that incredible...oh yeah...FREE!!!

I asked the waitress to please not gather anyone together to sing..so she brought out dessert with a candle and said it was on her...It's alway nice when you go somewhere new to eat and you have spectacular service...I can't wait to go back and eat...maybe take some friends when they come to visit ;)

Love Valentine's Day...

I know it's a day late...but Valentine's Day just got away from me so fast...I LOVE Valentine's day and everything about it...I know people don't like it cause they may not have someone special but "WE" all have someone special...It does not have to be a person you are in a relationship with..I remember being a kid and passing out the little "Will you be my Valentine" cards...don't think they were ALL someone special...well maybe in our own little 1st grade way ;-)

It's a day to express our HEART felt feelings to someone that may have done something special for you...whether it's a relative or friend...I wish all those important people in my life a very "Happy Valentine's Day"...We give our hearts...and we give our time and attention to those we love... In our busy times it is easy to take for granted those people who are there for us each and every day...

For me! I shine up my lips with some extra gloss....put my face on...tease my hair and put on something red and I'm ready to go have a cocktail...I just so happen to share that day with my hubby!!

Flowers

My favorite thing to have around...flowers..If I could have fresh flowers on my table everyday I would...they are soft and delicate and refreshing...if there was only a way to make them last for weeks...I should actually try and preserve them...might have to learn how to do that...especially my absolute favorite...the STARGAZER lily...they smell wonderful..I'm smiling just thinking about them...LOL..

If you don't know what to get me...you can be sure that flowers are the safe bet...I'm not picky ;)

Now planting flowers are a different story for me...Love ROSES and have no problem with them...Azaleas are another one of my favorite and can't grow them to save my life...and believe me I have tried and tried...I always end up with a dead plant..if I'm lucky I might get a dozen blooms on it...haha!! I am not known for a green thumb that's for sure..

I will have to get out this spring and take some photos of flowers all around me...If I can't grow them I can enjoy them through photos....Ohhhh!! I will  ALSO stick to flowers in a vase delivered to me...~wink wink~

Baby in the family..

Not what you think!!! The baby in our family is Danyelle's (my daughters) dog and when I say baby I'm not kidding...I'm telling you this yorkie is a baby with fur...He doesn't like people and can be a bit snooty...but can't we all..LOL...He is the best gift I ever got Danyelle...he is the 'Love of her life" right now...

When she comes home - he greets her...When she's having a bad day - he will cuddle with her...He sunbathes...likes walks...will tear a bobo (stuffed toy from PetSmart) apart in 2 seconds flat...YEP!! stuffing everywhere...and he will lift his leg 50 times when you take him out...I think just for the exercise of it all..But when it's all said and done we wouldn't have him any other way...Little "Mocha Man" has so much personality you can't help but love him!!! Even if he does sleep in a pink bed (long story)...We like to say he's in-touch with his feminine side ;)

Good Bye Dinner...

You ever have to leave friends behind??? Very hard especially good ones!!! And, No One could ask for better friends than Carrie (Care Bear) and Byron (Bukie)...those are my names for them...all my close friends get nicknames...RIGHT HO-HO ;-) Kara is another blog!!! Anyways...Care Bear and Bukie know how to hold "Meetings" and throw great Karaoke parties...Ok!! you're wondering what the "Meetings" are...welllll....Let's just say - We raise our glasses and toast to us - in the kitchen that is...LOL...

We are talking about two people that would do anything for anyone and just have pure genuine hearts <3... they are someone you can always count on and I just can not say enough about what they do or have done for us!!! Care Bear & Bukie if I haven't said it before..."THANKS FOR BEING GREAT FRIENDS"...

Our last weekend in NC we went to dinner and just had a great time...I wonder if we still hold the record on the bar game machine??? (that's me & Bukie - it was tough finding all those differences...LOL) Darn Pinot...might have to head back down to O'Charley's and find out :) And, Care Bear drank the biggest Margarita and I tried to drink it with her but she wasn't sharing the ALCOHOL... It's memories like these that give me a reason to smile!!

Life as an Adult Student...

What was I thinking??? I ask myself that question everyday…I still have yet to find the right answer…going back to school at my age..uugghh!!! I am not on my game like I was many many years ago…I think my brain went on vaca some time ago and never came back…

So the smart one I am “NOT”…I decided to take 3 classes at once..Uhhh!! yeah!! Not so smart…If I can make it through the next 11 weeks I will be back down to 2 classes…woohoo…This is my 3^rd time returning to school…YEP!! Glutton for punishment…But, I am finishing a degree I started a long time ago…I already have an Associates in BA and I’m finishing my Bachelors in BA in Human Resource Management…My other two are useless to me…I went to school got a degree and hated the field…Don’t you hate when that happens…I think I’ve been paying student loans forever!! And the rate I’m going I will be paying them until I’m 80… YIKES!!!

I am also studying for my HR Certification that is a BIG DEAL in HR…It’s an 11 week course with more studying than you can imagine in a short amount of time and a HUGE test I will either take the end of June and if not I have to wait until December…decisions…decisions…Can you say “Exhausted”…and I’m thinking of continuing on for my Masters…Not so sure!!!

I am confident that this will all pay off for me SOON…and if not I’m going off to a beautiful island and opening a bar on the beach and I am going to be an island bum!! ;)

When she was 5...

When she was 5...Oh!! how that seems like yesterday...That beautiful little 5 yr old is my daughter Danyelle..and she has outgrown my lap and has grown into a wonderful 25 yr old woman..I look back at pics and they bring big smiles to my face..It has been a joy being her mother and I am blessed with the greatest gift God could give and that was giving her to ME!!! I had her young and wouldn't do it any differently if I had to do again...What she doesn't realize that while I was teaching her as she was growing up...SHE was teaching me about life...love...and growing up as well...

Dust Collectors....

Yep!! We all have them...those annoying collectibles that we wanted so bad and now they just collect dust bunnies...Unfortunately this is just one of those annoying collections of mine...Now I know why I no longer collect anything...to much to dust off!! I have too many other things I would rather be doing then dust something that no one sees...come to think of it I never go in the family to see it either...Everytime I go in to vacuum or dust there they are..{shaking head}...UUGGHHH!!!!

Who the heck thought is was a good idea to collect anything anyways??? I know I could never be a hoarder it irritates me to see "USELESS" collectibles sitting on a shelf...not to mention everytime I move I have to pack them carefully and take them with me...YIKES....I would rather have photos...those atleast make me happy :)...not to mention easier to dust off!!!

I guess it was the kid in me that likes "Disney"!! Now it's not so magical ;)

I am always inspired by Quotes ... We all have good days and bad days and a little inspiration can go a long way... I have "Inspirational Quotes" all over my house...They let me know NOT to ever give up...I offer up a "Today's Quote" (TQ) on my fb everyday...hoping to inspire someone or atleast to make them laugh...

When life knocks you down...try to land on your back...because if you can look up...you can get up... Let your reason get you back up...When I get down I just look at a wall and see an inspirational quote and it gives me "MY" reason to get moving...for me to  continue doing what I am trying to achieve...

I teach my kids the true meaning of having favorite quotes in their lives...They are reminders to us that we can do anything and there is a purpose to this crazy beautiful life...Whether the quotes are funny...inspirational...or just out of this world...We ALL need to be INSPIRED!!!

Ugly Pink Dress

Yep!! You read the title right "Ugly Pink Dress"...We all have an ugly dress...mine just happens to be from "1991"...You remember..Big Hair...Big Sleeves...and Matching shoes!!! I just happened to have had the Big Hair...Big Sleeves...Matching PINK Shoes and lots & lots of lace...What was I thinking??? Oh let's add the bleach blonde hair...YIKES!!! Not so beautiful...LOL!!!

It's O.K... I'm not embarrassed it was me back in the day and I was obviously in STYLE! It's memories like this that make me look back and LAUGH...and I would do it over again in a minute...Those were some good times...You remember!!! You were probably right there with me...HAHA ;-)

The Day..

In life there are "Big" days..."Bigger" days...and then there is "The Day"...That "The Day" is my wedding day...we just won't say what number wedding it was ;-) ...You have to go through a lot of frogs to find your Prince...I found mine when I wasn't looking almost 6 yrs ago...I looked up one day and he was there...literally!! He walked in and sat right down at my business...That was on April 22, 2005...Two years later on April 22, 2007 we were married on "Dafuskie Island" it's a small island off Hilton Head in SC...It was just me, Chris and some Dolphins...oh yeah!! The Minister and Photographer...

We did not tell many people what we were doing...some knew before and some found out afterwards...we had some disappointed family members...But, I would do it like that again in a heartbeat...This was "OUR" day and "OUR" time...it wasn't about flowers..Reception...food..Expensive dresses and the chaos that goes with getting married...been there...done that!!! This was about Chris & me and our commitment to each other...

Mom & Dad

This is where it all began...MOM & DAD!!! Married over 45 yrs and you can probably tell that by the wedding photos...love the glasses (hehe)...I am needless to say a "Daddy's Girl"...my dad is funny, crazy  and loves to laugh...that's exactly where I get it from...My mom...well she's getting crabby in her old age but she would give you the shirt off her back and her last dollar...They are not the perfect parents but they are mine...Who could ask for more...They brought me into the world...now didn't they ;-)

I was taught to be independent and take care of myself...and if you want something in life you have to work for it...the best lessons in life I learned from them...just sometimes you don't realize that until later in life...

There is going to be 3 new posts today...I'm trying to get caught up...this is actually the 4th day of my challenge and I wanted to catch my blog up so I am current...

Is there a place you dream of going...We all love vacations...especially places that are warm and sunny with a lot of beautiful beaches and waterfalls...And what better place to find all that than to go to "HAWAII"...

My husband lived there for 3 years when he was in the Military...sooo jealous!!! I will get there one day..I just know it...

Well back to dreaming of the place I want to visit...Let's go!!!

Useless Trinket

Ever had a useless trinket in your house that someone gave you or you didn't know where it came from??? But, you kept it anyway...Well here's mine...I call her "Goldie" she's a useless glass blown gold fish..it was a gift that was suppose to bring luck in finding a job...Isn't working...LOL...I guess there is no timeline on that luck so maybe it takes time...days?? months?? years?? who knows!!! We keep it around anyways...

The beginning of my journey...Like most of you I lead a very busy, hectic life...I am non-stop from the time I wake-up until I go to bed....I am finishing my Bachelor's Degree and studying for my HR Certification on top  of it all...makes my brain hurt...LOL!! This is why I decided to start this blog...I set myself on a 365 day photo challenge and I enjoyed doing it so much (even if it's only been 3 days..hehe) I wanted to share my crazy journey with anyone who wanted to come along and ride that winding road with me...I won't bore you with a lot of talk unless you want to know something...I know I don't like to read a lot (I do that enough with school)...besides it's always more fun to look at life through pictures!!!
