Pantry Makeover...

I was bored today so I decided to organize a friends pantry...Good thing I'm her house guest (I can't wait to get in our home)...5 more days..woohoo.... She came home from work and just loved it...I get so excited when I can make someone's day...It was the least I could do since she is allowing me to crash at her house (for a month)...She even told my hubby that he can't have me back (uummm yeah he wasn't having none of that...hehe)

This is what she looked at everyday and it was driving me nuts...

How the heck can she find anything in there???...it was making me absolutely CRAZY that it was so
dis-organized...If I had to look at that everyday I would need therapy...LOL

Let's take a closer look....

I called her up and said I couldn't take it anymore I'm cleaning out that pantry...she was more than happy for me to do it...so I wasted NO time...

Everything OUT!!!!

This is what the pantry looked like when I took everything out of it....~skaking head~ ...

No that does not wash off!!!

This called for a paint job....so off to Lowe's I went...I found a really pretty Beige color paint for only $2.50 how could you not get it (happy dance woop woop)....Now that is a bargain...and it looks great in the pantry along with some shelf liner...Don't you think???

It's amazing how a fresh coat of paint can change a room (or pantry..hehe)....Now the fun was putting everything back...NOT!!! When you try to keep to a budget you have to be thrifty and unfortunately I don't live near any thrifty stores...Our goodwill sucks is small and the majority of the store is clothes...so I really only had Wal*mart and Target to work with...I went and purchased a couple baskets and used what I could find in the kitchen...

Baskets are great for chips, snacks and any item in packages that you can take out of a box to eliminate extra packaging...I put all the bags of chips in a big basket...added a carousel for the extra spices...another basket for oatmeal pkts, hot chocolate pkts, and everyone has ramen noodles in there kitchen...and I also put in a cute rack for here to see all her can food that she keeps in the kitchen (she has a shelf in the garage for extra storage)...

Here's another big basket for all the paper and plastic...a couple containers (she already had) for gravy and dressing packets...smaller baskets for snacks and popcorn...

I re-used this rack that she had spices in for her jello (those are for jello shots) yum yum!! and for dressing...

Here's the BEFORE.....

And....Here's the AFTER....

A coat of paint...shelf liner...a few baskets and you can turn any cluttered pantry into an organized  area that doesn't give you anxiety when you are looking for something (well atleast I won't get anxiety...lol) ...Oh and by the way she had items in there that were best used by Jan '06...

WHEN'S THE LAST TIME YOU CLEANED OUT YOUR PANTRY OR CABINETS???
